Background
Recent extreme weather events, including heatwaves, floods, and wildfires, are indicative of worsening climate change. Climate actions face challenges due to shifting geopolitics and energy security concerns. Meanwhile, 99% of the world's population live in areas that exceed WHO air quality limits, endangering public health. Emissions from climate change and air pollution originate from similar sources, offering opportunities for synergistic control policies. COP28 in Dubai marks a critical moment for evaluating progress on the Paris Agreement's goals.
In response, Energy Foundation China (EF China), the Institute of Carbon Neutrality at Tsinghua University (ICON), and the China Clean Air Policy Partnership (CCAPP) will host an international roundtable at COP28. The aim is to unite efforts to combat local and global air pollution while aligning with broader climate goals. The ultimate objective is to achieve fairness, well-being, and lasting prosperity.
