In April 2023, this report about how China’s carbon emissions trading scheme can develop and optimize its financial attributes was released with the support of Energy Foundation China. It was led by the Green Finance Forum of 60, in collaboration with the Shanghai Environment and Energy Exchange.

The report first investigates the current problems and challenges faced the national carbon market, then designs a roadmap for the development of financial attributes in the market and proposes specific recommendations, in an effort to provide scientific evidence for harnessing market-driven incentives for emission reductions. Authors of the report hope it offers helpful insights at a time when regulators think about how to coordinate and improve risk supervision of the market.
