In December 2022, supported by Energy Foundation China, the International Institute of Green Finance (IIGF) at the Central University of Finance and Economics completed the Belt and Road renewable energy cooperation database project and released this case study report. The database is organized by different policies, countries, and projects, covering 21 countries/territories along the Belt and Road and featuring renewable energy policies, carbon emissions data, and project financing information. The case study report analyzes six representative projects in relation to local renewable energy policies, development background, challenges, lessons learned, and impacts. The researchers hope the database and the report—as part of the effort promoting a green Belt and Road Initiative—will be helpful to enterprises and financial institutions that are looking for foreign investment opportunities and trying to avoid related investment risks.
