Transformational Development of China’s Coal Industry With the Carbon Peaking and Neutrality Goals

In May 2022, with the support of Energy Foundation China, SinoCarbon Innovation & Investment Co., Ltd launched this report proposing how China should transform its coal industry against the backdrop of the country’s dual goals of carbon peaking and neutrality, along with another report focused on Inner Mongolia, one of the biggest coal producing and coal power provinces in China.
This report summarizes the transformation experiences of coal regions in China and other parts of the world, analyzes the challenges faced by the coal industry, and puts forward several suggestions that may help the industry transit to a lower carbon future.
