Zhejiang Province’s Coal Reduction Strategy and Roadmap During the 14th Five-Year Plan Period and in the Longer Term
In August 2021, with the support of Energy Foundation China, Zhejiang Economic Information Center published this research report presenting a coal reduction strategy and roadmap for the next five years and in the medium and long term for Zhejiang Province, a manufacturing powerhouse that is a top energy consumer in China.
Through a review of coal utilization status, calculations by the Political, Economic, Social, and Technological (PEST) model , and a scenario analysis, the report proposes the coal reduction strategy and roadmap that the authors think will meet the province’s policy objectives for economic growth, social development, energy consumption, and greenhouse gas emissions. The research’s key findings have provided science-based evidence for Zhejiang’s planning documents for the next five years, including the provincial 14th Five-Year Plan for Energy Saving and Consumption Reductions and the Optimal Allocation of Energy Resources, and the provincial 14th Five-Year Plan for Climate Change.
