One of the 18 sub-projects of the foundation’s flagship project on China’s long-term deep decarbonization strategy, this report uses a macroeconomic forecasting model and a dynamic computable general equilibrium model to analyze China’s socio-economic development by 2025, 2035, and 2050. The forecast concludes that the Chinese economy and technological innovation will grow exponentially from 2025 to 2050, its industry sector will move to higher-end production, and its growth will transforms from the expansion of quantity to the more sophisticated improvement of quality and efficiency. At a crucial time when policymakers design China’s socio-economic plan for the next five years, this report provides solid data and policy recommendations for a strategic framework for future development.
