Reforming China’s Fiscal and Taxation Policies for Green Development: Carbon Tax, Environmental Protection Tax, and Fiscal Expenditure Policy Evaluation
In summer 2020, with support from Energy Foundation China, the Chinese Academy of Fiscal Sciences published this research report highlighting fiscal and taxation policy changes that can help make China’s economic growth more green and low carbon. The report suggests China should consider levying carbon taxes, optimize its environmental protection taxes, and evaluate its current fiscal expenditure policies. Researchers hope it can provides thinking points for academic institutions and government agencies in promoting green financing tools for carbon emissions mitigation and environmental protection in China.
