Construction of a Circular Economy System in Shanghai
Construction of a Circular Economy System in Shanghai
In October 2022, with the support of Energy Foundation China, the Shanghai Center for Energy Saving and Emission-Reduction released this report describing how Shanghai can build a circular economy better.
The study proposes a strategy and corresponding measures for Shanghai’s circular economy system, covering a top-level design, as well as specific actions for four key areas of a circular economy—namely industry, construction, agriculture, and residence—and for subdivided resource categories under each key area. This study also analyses the fast-growing packaging and scrap steel sectors in depth, and puts forward specific suggestions for how to better promote the development of a circular economy. Authors of this report hope it can provide reference for Shanghai and other parts of the country when cities seek to better deal with their waste issues.
