In November 2021, the ZKHY Energy Internet Research Institute released this summary report about how to make holistic district-level energy development planning for buildings. Support for this research came from Energy Foundation China.

Based on an analysis of recent trends in district energy design in China and other parts of the world, the report proposes ambitious yet achievable quantitative goals, key tasks, and implementation measures for optimal building energy planning at the district level. The authors hope that the research can be helpful in providing new ideas for optimized low carbon energy supplies for buildings, districts, and cities, as well as for the shift from energy performance improvements of a single building to building clusters.
