Building the Cornerstone of Full Electrification: An Analysis of Electric Logistics Vehicles in Hainan Province
In September 2022, with support from Energy Foundation China, the Rocky Mountain Institute released this research report analyzing how Hainan can accelerate the deployment of electric logistics vehicles. The tropical island province at China’s southernmost point has shown great ambition in terms of electrified transportation.
Based on official statistics and interviews, the report researches on the operation, characteristics, promotion policies, market, charging infrastructure, vehicle performance, and business models of electric logistics vehicles in Hainan Province. The authors hope their findings can help provide scientific evidence, as Hainan formulates its goals and action plans for the electrification of logistics vehicles, which are a pain point for the achievement of the island’s 2030 sales ban on fossil fuel-powered vehicles.
