Preliminary Research Report on the Freight Industry
In 2020, with support from Energy Foundation China and the Online-to-Offline (O2O) freight platform data courtesy of the Manbang Group, the School of Transportation and Logistics of Southwest Jiaotong University released this report on China’s freight industry.
The report analyzes the static and spatial distribution characteristics of trucks and cargo, the fuel consumption of road freight, the actual load rate of typical freight channels and the prevalence of empty running. The report also investigates the driving behavior and preferences of the O2O platform truck drivers.
This research aims at using the big data of the freight platform, with individual retail driver as the main subject of research, to explore the characteristics and problems of bulk cargo road transportation in China.
