In September 2022, with the support of Energy Foundation China, the China General Certification Center released this report on how China can boost its consumption of green electricity. The report first reviews green power consumption mechanisms in the U.S., Sweden, and the Netherlands, then analyzes China’s quota, trading, and certificating policies for electricity generated from renewables, as well as challenges such as double counting of green power’s environmental benefits. The report also proposes its vision of China’s pathway toward green power consumption and actions that can help increase the consumption, in an effort to support China’s renewable development and green power markets at the next stage.
