Evaluation and Dissemination of Bicycle-Friendly Cities - A Method Based on Diverse Public Participation
In June 2024, with the support of the Energy Foundation China, the China Sustainable Transportation Center released the “Evaluation and Dissemination of Bicycle-Friendly Cities - A Method Based on Diverse Public Participation.”
The report introduces a new “Public Participation-Based Bicycle-Friendly Cities Evaluation System,” developed through public surveys and expert consultations. This system evaluates the bicycle-friendliness of cities from three dimensions: infrastructure, cycling experience, and advocacy and order, combining both subjective and objective indicators. The report utilized this evaluation system to conduct pilot assessments of the bicycle-friendly environments in Beijing’s Changping District and Wuxi City, analyzing their strengths and weaknesses and providing improvement recommendations.
