In 2023, with the support of Energy Foundation China, Beijing City Quadrant Technology Co., Ltd completed this research report revealing how shared electric bicycles are changing Kunming residents’ life and why they can make urban transportation greener.

The report examines the history and current use of shared electric bikes in Kunming, before it evaluates their influence on urban residents‘ lifestyle choices at the city level. The study also sheds light on the public demand represented by market growth and the reseaons behind the growth, providing policymakers and the public with a more nuanced understanding of the demand for shared electric bikes.

The report then reviews the operation and oversight experiences of shared electric bikes in Kunming and other typical cities. Furthermore, it outlines the roles of different stakeholders in the entire life cycle of shared electric bike usage scenarios and proposes coordinated oversight suggestions in these scenarios.
