Guidelines for Quantifying Greenhouse Gas Emission Reductions of Citizens’ Green and Low Carbon Behavior
Guidelines for Quantifying Greenhouse Gas Emission Reductions of Citizens’ Green and Low Carbon Behavior
In April 2022, the All-China Environment Federation released this document, which was drafted by the federation’s Committee of Green, Circular, and Inclusive Development and the Center for Environmental Education and Communications of China’s Ministry of Ecology and Environment. It was part of a bigger project exploring standards and pilots of personal carbon accounting, with the supported of Energy Foundation China.
This document defines terminologies for personal carbon accounting; classifies green behavior; and proposes the basic principles, requirements, and methods for quantifying carbon emission reductions of citizens’ green behavior. Applicable to the quantitative assessment of personal carbon emission reductions, the guidelines have the potential to become standards in support of a green lifestyle.
This document is the first of its kind in China and thus close a gap in personal carbon accounting.
