Leveraging Water-Energy Nexus to Address Climate Change: Pumped-Storage Hydroelectricity as a Solution for Mitigating Renewables Curtailment in China
In October 2020, the World Resources Institute released this report on pumped-storage hydroelectricity (PSH), with support from Energy Foundation China. After analyzing current PSH policy and practice in China, the report identifies opportunities to develop more PSH as a viable solution for reducing renewable energy curtailment and coal demand. It also provides policy recommendations for accelerated PSH growth, so as to help healthy renewable energy expansion in the country.
