China’s Medium- and Long-term Air Quality Improvement Pathways and Health Benefits
China’s Medium- and Long-term Air Quality Improvement Pathways and Health Benefits
In 2019, Energy Foundation China supported Tsinghua University to explore ambitious clean air targets and their achievement pathways in China for 2030 and 2050. The findings were published in this report in January 2020.
Researchers were focused on health impacts as well as GHG reduction and peaking goals when proposing air targets for China. By comparing China’s air quality standards and those of developed countries and the World Health Organisation, they set ambitious long-term goals of clean air for China and presented viable emission mitigation pathways and corresponding health impact analysis.
This research also gives a forward-looking guidance on how to achieve both clean air and carbon mitigation targets at the same time.
