Communications Campaign Launched on National Low Carbon Day
On the morning of June 15, 2022, China held the major celebration event of the 2022 National Low Carbon Day in Jinan City, Shandong Province with the theme of “Putting in Place Carbon Actions to Build a Beautiful Homeland Together.” The event aimed to popularize China’s carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals by ramping up the publicity of typical green and low carbon development cases; raising the public’s environmental, conservation, and ecological awareness; and advocating low carbon, energy efficient, and green lifestyles and consumption behavior.
During the celebration event, a series of low carbon communication activities were launched, which were jointly planned by the Center for Environmental Education and Communications of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment (CEEC) and Energy Foundation China and would cover topics including expert opinion presentations, cloud-based communications, pilot city salons, and low carbon development exhibitions. CECC plans to update the details of each topic on its website, and build a Climate Change and Low Carbon Communications Network of telling the decarbonization stories of all walks of life. Chengchuan TIAN, Director-General of CEEC, addressed the launching ceremony.

Mr. TIAN said that the series of Low Carbon Actions in China publicity activities are designed to go deep into all localities to publicize climate change and low carbon topics, to identify typical and exemplary people and cases, and to widely mobilize the media, non-governmental organizations, enterprises, families, communities, and schools to take low carbon actions. He hoped that these activities would inspire the whole society to practice green and low carbon production and lifestyles, to participate in China’s carbon peaking and neutrality actions, and to build a beautiful and low carbon homeland together.
Hui JING, Director of Energy Foundation China’s Strategic Communications Program, also extended her congratulations on the launch of the program, and said that the joint planning of the Low Carbon Actions communications program and building of the Climate Change and Low Carbon Communications Network by Energy Foundation China and CEEC would bring multiple parties together and spark off their creativity in presenting the full panorama of the positive changes brought by low carbon production and lifestyles to the Chinese society and the public, in an effort to drive more public participation in the transition toward green and low carbon lifestyles.
