On March 24, 2018, Energy Foundation CEO and Co-founder Eric Heitz attended the annual China Development Forum as a formal delegate and addressed its Economic Summit Parallel Session—Climate Change and Carbon Trading.

On March 6, Energy Foundation China President Zou Ji met with California Governor Jerry Brown at the Governor’s Office in San Francisco, and discussed China-California climate cooperation and the 2018 Global Climate Action Summit.

Wuhan, a mega-city that has pioneered green growth strategies, has issued a Carbon Emissions Peaking Action Plan (2017-2022) with a quantified emissions cap—the first of its kind for a Chinese city. Wuhan’s plan sends a positive signal to peer cities and exemplifies how the 19th Party Congress' call for "ecological civilization" is quickly translating into local action.

Yesterday, China’s National Development and Reform Commission launched China’s national Emissions Trading System (ETS), with approval from the State Council. The launch, which fulfills a commitment first made by President Xi Jinping in September 2015, is a major milestone in China’s efforts to fight climate change, and a significant step towards a clean energy future.

On Dec 11, 2017, as Member of the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED), Energy Foundation CEO and Co-founder Eric Heitz reported back to CCICED Annual Meeting Plenary Session, on the findings and recommendations by CCICED Clean Energy Strategy and Climate Change Forum.

On December 10, 2017, “Clean Energy Strategy and Climate Change,” an open forum on the sidelines of the annual meeting of the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED), kicked off in Beijing. Undertaken by the Energy Foundation, the forum was hosted by two vice chairpersons of CCICED: XIE Zhenhua, China’s Special Representative on Climate Change, and Catherine MCKENNA, Canada’s Minister of Environment and Climate Change.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Energy Foundation China (EF China) and China Southern Power Grid Co., Ltd (CSG) on August 17 in Guangzhou.

We are delighted to announce that as of today, our new Energy Foundation China President, Prof. Zou Ji, has officially joined the staff in our Beijing Representative Office.

On June 6th – 8th, the Eighth Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM8) and the Second Mission Innovation Ministerial (MI-2), hosted by the Ministry of Science and Technology was held in China National Conference Center. On June 6th, Energy Foundation, with the approval of the Ministry of Science and Technology, successfully organized the side event – Clean Energy Economy Transition Forum.

The president’s decision to withdraw from the Paris Agreement undermines the efforts of states, cities, and American businesses to grow the economy and create jobs. America is retreating from its global leadership position on trade, national security, and climate change.
