In the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei (Jing-jin-ji, JJJ) Region, heavy haze pollution episodes are more serious during winter heating seasons, when pollution from low elevation, distributed residential coal combustion contributes significantly to the concentration of PM2.5.

In order to better implement the requirements of China’s national air pollution prevention and control standards and improve air quality in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei (Jing-jin-ji, JJJ), the China Environmental Management Program (CEMP) grantee Beijing Municipal Research Institute of Environmental Protection (BMRIEP) will conduct a project on the clean energy transformation in the JJJ region.

In 2016, local pilots will carry out Phase II projects, including the 13th Five-Year Plan (FYP) for air pollution prevention and control and local city air quality attainment plans. Phase II projects will continue centering on the core requirements of urban air quality standards attainment and carrying out pilot studies on the time limit of standards attainment, phased improvement objectives, measures and tasks for attaining standards, and co-control measures.

The theme is “Innovation Beyond Borders: Bridging the U.S. and Asia,” and the selection recognizes our 16 years of work to move innovative ideas between the two countries. Eric Heitz, CEO and co-founder was proud to accept the award on behalf of the China staff and Chinese network of grantees.

We are very honored that our Renewable Energy team was nominated for the 2016 UVIG Achievement Award on April 26, 2016 together with our partners at SGERI, CEPRI, and SGC Dispatch Centre for the RE Priority Dispatch Study and the Qinghai Solar Integration Study that we jointly developed.

The China Urban Sustainability Coalition, along with multiple non-profit organizations that advocate for sustainable urbanization in China, jointly released the Ten Key Principles of Low Carbon Urbanization on December 3rd in Paris, at China Pavilion of the 2015 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 21), offering recommendations for Chinese cities’ transition towards a green and low-carbon development model.

On July 4, 2015, Energy Foundation China (EFC) held its 15th annual Dialogue Partners Meeting in Beijing. With over 60 attendees this year, the Dialogue Partners Meeting is a one-day event aimed to exchange ideas with China’s policymakers on energy and environmental challenges and successes.
