Zou Ji Gives Economic Speech at NDRC’s Roundtable With U.S. Multinational Enterprises
On April 19, 2023, Zou Ji, CEO and President of Energy Foundation China, was invited to address a high-level roundtable meeting in Guangzhou between China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) and multinational enterprises form the U.S. The Greater Bay Area edition of the meeting was on the theme of helping the companies better invest in the area, which comprises nine municipalities in Guangdong Province and the two Special Administrative Regions of Hong Kong and Macao. More than 70 representatives from 54 American chambers of commerce and enterprises in China attended the event organized by NDRC’s International Department and the Guangzhou Municipal Government.

Zou explained how the Greater Bay Area would play a leading role in the high-quality development of the Chinese economy, as well as in the country’s transition of economic growth drivers toward innovation and high-level opening-up. He emphasized the importance of the area in helping achieve China’s carbon peaking and neutrality goals, through tools such as structural transformation, industrial upgrading, energy transition, the integration of digital and green economy, and the development of “strategic emerging industries.”
