Energy Foundation China, Environment Ministry’s Communications Arm to Enhance Cooperation
On May 17, Energy Foundation China (EF China) and the Center for Environmental Education and Communications of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment (CEEC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on strategic communications in Beijing. In the next few years, EF China and CEEC will work together to conduct activities on the themes of ‘Defending the Blue Sky’ and ‘Climate Change and Low Carbon Development,’ offer communication recommendations to relevant departments at the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, and provide guidance and an action platform for the awareness and behavior change of the general public.
The CEEC is affiliated to the ministry, which is formerly known as the Ministry of Environmental Protection. As an important provider of technical support and service, it carries out publicity, education, and training for the ministry.
The two parties had developed a strong partnership that led to positive effects, said Jia Feng, the director of CEEC, and Zou Ji, the present of EF China. By signing the memorandum, the two parties hope to strengthen its cooperation in the future. For the next step, a specific work plan and its implementation for this year will be discussed.
Before the signing ceremony, Mr. Zou shared his understanding of China’s climate change policy in the new era with CEEC staff. He discussed how China should address climate change and environmental issues, as well as what the opportunities, challenges, and trends would be after the Ministry of Ecology and Environment takes over climate functions from the National Development and Reform Commission.
