Background:
China's industrial sector, a major contributor to the country's carbon emissions, is facing increasing pressure to set and achieve climate targets for carbon neutrality. In response to the urgent need for carbon reduction in the industrial sector and to facilitate zero-carbon industrial transition, Energy Foundation China (EF China) launched the “China Industry Deep Decarbonization” Program (CIDD), targeted at providing systematic technical support to advance top-level policy design, sector action, market mechanism, and cross-cutting efforts. In particular, it intends to enhance the ambition of enterprises and accelerate their decarbonization progress to achieve climate mitigation goals.
With the aim of facilitating knowledge exchange and collaboration opportunities, EF China and its partners will leverage COP28 to organize an Expert Roundtable, bringing together key experts and enterprises from China and other countries on key industries like steel and cement. By sharing best practices and insights from the field, this roundtable aims to bridge Chinese and international enterprises, establish shared ambitions, and unlock their carbon reduction potential in the future, contributing to climate safety and economic prosperity in China and around the world.
