Director, Coal Transition
Ms. Cynthia Han Yu is the Director of Coal Transition, Energy Foundation China. She is responsible for developing coal transition strategies, covering topics including the transition of a coal-based economy and alternative energy solutions. Prior to joining the foundation in May 2022, Cynthia was an economist for multinational energy groups Total Energies and BP, overseeing studies on China’s gas, power, and renewables markets, developing the groups’ lower carbon transition strategies in China, and conducting associated investment analysis and due diligence. Cynthia also worked on gas market fundamental analysis at Wood Mackenzie and was an environmental planner for Ontario’s provincial grid company in Canada.
Ms. Yu holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Studies from University of Waterloo in Canada, a part-time Master of Business Administration degree from Guanghua School of Management at Peking University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences and Economics from Peking University.
