With support from Energy Foundation China, the Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen) led a joint research team from seven international and domestic research institutions to conduct this research and released the Shenzhen Case Study report in August 2019.

In May of 2019, the Rocky Mountain Institute released the report with support from Energy Foundation China and WWF

In 2018，Energy Foundation China supported the Shenzhen Institute of Building Research to study how to build a support system for the city’s near-zero carbon emission district.

With support from Energy Foundation China, the National Center for Climate Change Strategy and International Cooperation, together with the China Sustainable Transportation Center and the Institute of Spatial Planning and Regional Economy under the National Development and Reform Commission finished this research report in 2018.
