In October 2020, the World Resources Institute released this report on pumped-storage hydroelectricity (PSH), with support from Energy Foundation China. After analyzing current PSH policy and practice in China, the report identifies opportunities to develop more PSH as a viable solution for reducing renewable energy curtailment and coal demand. It also provides policy recommendations for accelerated PSH growth, so as to help healthy renewable energy expansion in the country.

In 2020, Energy Foundation China supported Planet-Data Inc. to investigate consequences that thermal power plants have on water temperature, chlorophyll concentration, and transparency in China’s southwestern province of Yunnan.

Supported by Energy Foundation China, Peking University and the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention assessed health effects of air pollution and corresponding medical and mortality costs, to lend support to decisions relevant to air pollution control and public health improvement strategies. In September 2020, the National School of Development at Peking University released this report with their findings.
