In January, China’s Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP) imposed fines on two domestic truck makers—Tangjun and Kama—for selling vehicles that didn’t comply with emissions standards. These were the first-ever fiscal penalties levied by the ministry for auto emissions violations. The two companies were fined nearly $6 million total, or $14,000 per vehicle, for trucks that sold for an average of $7,000.

Industry representatives from Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, Guangzhou, and Jiaxing discussed their experiences with advanced air pollution control technology with the Changzhou EPB and leaders from Changzhou’s industrial parks.

On November 10 and 11, grantee Beijing University of Technology held a training on air quality monitoring and forecast technology for the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei (JJJ) region and its surrounding areas. About forty attendees from local environmental monitoring centers and stations in the relevant region joined the training.
