The Air Quality Task Force of Energy Foundation China pursues world-class air quality and carbon neutrality for China by implementing a co-control strategy for air and climate pollutants. The task force supports cross-cutting research on air quality, climate change, health, energy, the economy, and urban-rural coordination topics.

In mid-May 2021, Energy Foundation China (EF China) and media outlet China News Service held the fourth event of the “Sustainable Energy for a Prosperous China” forum series for journalists, focused on early peaking of carbon emissions, fast and ambitious local action, and the energy sector.

With support from Energy Foundation China (EF China), the Chinese Academy for Environmental Planning (CAEP), a think tank overseen by China’s Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE), held the mid-term seminar in late May 2021 for its research on the strategy and capacity building for coordinated protection of the environment and climate.

With support from Energy Foundation China, a Tsinghua University research group led by HE Kebin and ZHANG Qiang published an article online in April 2021 at the National Science Review titled “Pathways of China’s PM2.5 Air Quality 2015–2060 in the Context of Carbon Neutrality,” which for the first time identifies the pathways of continuous air quality improvement in China and its key regions from 2015 to 2060 that are consist with China’s carbon peaking and neutrality goals.

Shanghai celebrated a major achievement for green urban development and people-friendly mobility in September 2020 as the iconic Nanjing East Road became fully pedestrianized.

In June, Beijing Municipal Research Institute of Environmental Protection hosted an online workshop to reveal its findings on key issues of local regulation for mobile source emissions control, a research supported by Energy Foundation China.

In late May 2020, Energy Foundation China (EF China) organized its sixth Economists Dialogue on global and China’s low carbon and green development agenda, focused on China’s green post-pandemic economic stimulus and the 14th Five-Year Plan.

On March 26th of 2020, organized by Energy Foundation China (EF China) and Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), International Technical Supporting Platform for City Emission Peaking (ISP-CEP) held the first online workshop of “Promoting Individual Low-carbon Consumption”. Representatives and experts from China National Textile and Apparel Council, Didi, Meituan-Dianping, Carbonstop, ClimateWorks Foundation and 11 members organization of ISP-CEP jointly attended the workshop.
