Air Pollution Control Strategies for Greater Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei During the 14th Five-Year Plan Period
In December 2021, the Chinese Academy for Environmental Planning released this report proposing targets and actions for air pollution control in the greater Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region for the next five years, based a review of air efforts over the past eight years and a scenario analysis of future work. Support for the research came from Energy Foundation China.
After evaluating what the five-year Action Plan for Air Pollution Prevention and Control (2013–2017) and the three-year Blue Sky Action Plan (2018–2020) did to air quality of the greater Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the report proposes 2025 air quality improvement targets, key pollutants reduction indicators, and carbon reduction goals, as well as key tasks and policy recommendations for the North China region that covers almost 30 cities. The authors hope it can provide technical support for air policies that cut both criteria and climate pollutants in the region.
